There is an entry for this Stretford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://domesdaymap.co.uk/place/SO4455/stretford/] [accessed 23 July 2014], but it mentions neither church nor cleric in it. A font in this church is recorded and illustrated in Dineley (aka Dingley, 1867-). [NB: Dineley has the dedication as St. Cosmo & Damian]. Described and illustrated in the inventory of Herefordshire (1931-1934, vol. III: 190 and pl. 55): "Font[...]: irregular cup-shaped bowl and tapering stem, moulded base, probably late 12th-century." [NB: the RCHM has the dedication as St. Peter]. The font is raised on a circular plinth in this source. The SMR record [SMR no. 6933] of Herefordshire Council [/www.herefordshire.gov.uk] has: "A primitive-looking font, with bowl and stem cut from one sandstone block. It sits on two circular stones. The font has been re-tooled. It probably dates to the early 12th century, contemporary with the earliest part of the church."
