There is an entry for Ross [-on-Wye] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SO5924/ross-on-wye/] [accessed 16 June 2024]; it mentions a priest but not a church in it, although there may have been one there. A font is described in the inventory of Herefordshire (1931-1934, vol. II: 160): "Font: In the S. aisle -- round bowl with acanthus-ornament, cylindrical draped stem with moulded top, late 17th or early 18th-century." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SO5979524045]: "A fine church with nave, North and South aisles square tower with pinnacles at corners and graceful spire. Local red sandstone with ashlar dressings. Some C12 material re-used. Church was rebuilt in C13 and dedicated in 1316. Heavily restored in 1878 [...] C17 or East C18 font". The church also has a later, Victorian font [cf. ImagesArea].
