The square unmounted mortar is kept in the chancel, at the foot of the monument believed to be that of Blanche Grandison. It is whether or not this mortar was used as holy-water stoup or not [cf. Bond's 'Fonts and covers' regarding the practice of bringing old medieval mortars and grain measures into the churchs in the mistaken belief they had served a liturgical function] [cf.
