There is an entry for Garway [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SO4522/garway/] [accessed 5 June 2018] but it mentions neither priest nor church in it. Herefordshire (1931-1934) notes: "Font: octagonal bowl with top rim carved with modern ornament and modern cross in small panel on one side, octagonal stem with moulded capping and chamfered base, 14th-century." Noted and illustrated in Tim Sandles' Legendary Dartmoor web site [www.legendarydartmoor.co.uk] [accessed 18 December 2006]. [NB: the triangular motifs of the decoration do not match the older date of the font and are two sharp and regular to be originals; the same can be said of the little cross with serpent motif carved lower on one of the sides of the basin].
