There is an entry for this Thruxton [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SO4334/thruxton/] [accessed 30 August 2018] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. Herefordshire (1931-1934, vol. I: xlii and pl. 39) reports here one of a few late fonts in this county that "deserve notice", and (238): "Font [...] octagonal with moulded bowl and necking, plain stem and splayed base cut from octagonal to square, inscription round bowl, "This font was made Marc the 16th, 1677", inscription on base, "Baptismus est ablutio peccatorum." The entry for this church in Historic England [Listing NGR: SO4371334627] notes: "Nave has font in square to octagonal chamfered base with inscription: "BAPTISMUS EST ABLVTIO PECCATORUM", octagonal stem with moulded necking supporting octagonal bowl with curved bottom bearing another inscription: "THIS: FONT: WAS: MADE: MARC (sic): THE: 16TH: 1677"" The listing gives thate of the church as " C14, restored 1866."
