No entry for Michaelchurch found in the Domesday survey. A font here is described and illustrated in Herefordshire (1931-1934, vol. I: xlii, 239 and pl. 38): "tapering cylindrical bowl with band of simple interlacing arches at top, and below, bands of diaper work, interlacing and cheveron [sic] ornament, plus round stem, 12th-century". The two lower levels of the base are square at top and round below. [cf. Index entry for Michaelchurch No. 2 for an old Roman altar now used as holy-water stoup]
