There are two entries for Wootton [St Lawrence] [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU5953/wootton-st-lawrence/] [accessed 20 August 2018] neither of which mentions cleric or church in it. The Victoria County History (Hampshire, vol. 4, 1911) notes: "There was a church at Wootton St. Lawrence as early as 940 [...] There is no mention, however, of any church here in Domesday Book"; the VCH entry does not mention a font in this church. A second baptismal font in this church [cf. Index entry for Wootton St. Lawrence No. 1 for the other]; this one is half-hidden behind a bench. obviously not in use, perhaps an earlier font in this church or brought from nearby; the basin appears octagonal, with clear signs of damage; its sides, like those of the newer font; are also decorated with quatrefoil windows, but probably of an earlier style; the lower base is broken but shows nice ornamental patterns on what is left of it; a block of stone that is now inside the basin may be the stem of the base (?)
