The older, perhaps, of two fonts in the Romanesque church of Silió [cf. Index entry for Silió No.2 for the other]. This one is quadrangular and crudely made, the only sign of added work being the cut or groove in the interior of the upper rim, probably to fit a plain cover there. There is a large drain hole in the front, towards the bottom, but this may have been made later if the object was used outside the church as trough, etc. This object is somewhat similar to the oil fonts ['piques d'oli'] found in some of the Romanesque churches of the central and western Pyrénées, especially the area of the Val d'Aran, but it is devoid of any ornamentation that would indicate a sacred use.
