Described in Collins (1981: 107) as a Romanesque baptismal font consisting of a basin carved out of a semi-oval stone, the sides of which are decorated with slightly curved chevrons, whereas the rounded underbowl has diagonal ribbed pattern and palmettes; the base is a short hexagonal pedestal. Described in Drake (2002: 65 fn35): "beneath a broad octagonal cuff decorated with large raised semilunes, is a near hemisphere carved to give a convex spiral effect, interspeded with sprays of leaves. It stands on a makeshift two piece support, one of brick, the other from a different stone from the bowl itself". Listed and illustrated in Palissy [ref.: PM10004457]: "Fonts baptismaux, cuve, pierre, 12e siècle. [...] calcaire : peint [...] Les ferrures, en s'oxydant, ont fait éclater la pierre." Listed and illustrated in Contrat de Plan Etat - Région Champagne-Ardenne 2000-2006 [ref.: MH : 1978/03/30]. An old photograph [date unknown] shows the font with a round, flat and plain cover on it; it is made of wood with a metal lock bar; the rim of the font had a metal staple still on it at the time, but more recent photographs [2003?] show that all four metal staples are broken, two of which with considerable damage to the stone of the basin.
