Described in Abadie (2001) as two former bases of Romanesque columns, dated 11th to 13th century, re-used as the base for the modern basin of the baptismal font. The modern font is listedand illustrated in Palissy [ref.: PM65000573] with date in the late 18thC, without mention of the earlier part: "Cuve et son pied, soubassement et encadrement de la niche en marbres gris bleutés et ocres jaunes (marbres de Lourdes et de Hèches). L'armoire de bois, formée de deux portes cintrées classiques, est surmontée du Baptême du Christ, groupe sculpté en ronde bosse. Celui-ci est mis en scène sous un dais de bois sculpté et doré d'où se développe et retombe un rideau magnifiquement drapé, doré et argenté [...] 4e quart 18e siècle [...] Attribués à Dominique Ferrère. Le traitement des personnages, en particulier les visages, ainsi que le rendu des rideaux, sont tout à fait caractéristiques de l'art de Ferrère." [NB: the present font is modern; the base is a baluster-shaped pedestal; did Abadie refer to a plinth? are the old fragments built into the elaborate baldaquin behind the font? TO BE RESOLVED]
