Baptismal font listed in Palissy [ref.: PM51002643] [https://www.pop.culture.gouv.fr/notice/palissy/PM51002643] [accessed 10 August 2023]: "Fonts baptismaux et leur couvercle [...] Pierre ; cuivre [...] 16e siècle". Described and illustrated in the web site of the Catholic Diocese of Chalons-en-Champagne [http://catholique-chalons-en-champagne.cef.fr]: baptismal font of the 16th century of a type that evolved from the traditional hemispherical bowl decorated with ribbed pattern; this late basin shows the shallower rounded form, the exagerated ribs (gadroons, really) of the underbowl and the presence of a broader and deeper scotia towards the upper sides; the rather ungraceful base is a moulded shaft increasing in width towards the bottom. The font is covered with a dome-shaped lid made of copper, also decorated with deep ribs, and topped with an orb-and-cross finial. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval church here]
