Church Notes: 11th-12thC(?) church; re-built 13thC; modified 14th, 15th, 16thC -- listed in Mérimée [ref.: PA00091904] -- said to have been the surviver of four parish churches in Billom, the others dedicated to Saint-Loup, Saint-Michel and Saint-Saturnin

Medieval baptismal font probably of the 13th or 14th century; roughly cylindrical basin decorated with two mouldings on the upper basin side while the middle has four large oblong medallions now plain, but perhaps painted originally; it is mounted on a plain cylindrical stem and located in the crypt, by the well. There is another stone font in the Chapelle du Rosaire, a font which appears to be the one in use; it consists of a polygonal moulded basin of granite mounted on a square pedestal base with chamfered angles; it has the look of a composite object, the basin perhaps medieval, the pedestal base looking very modern. [NB: Palissy [ref.: PM63002118] lists an 18th-century font and a wooden "placard-clôture des fonts baptismaux" of the 18th century. [originally from Saint-Loup?]
