Listed in Palissy [ref.: IM89001604]: "Fonts baptismaux [...] Calcaire [...] Saint Rémi : ?, évêque, en buste, bénédiction, croix ; figures (tête, évêque, crosse, pèlerin, bourdon, chapeau, coquille Saint Jacques, roi, homme) ; représentation animalière (loup) ; ornement à forme géométrique [...] Crosse de l'évêque et ornement à forme géométrique gravés [...] H = 77 ; d = 105 ; Bassin : d = 74 [...] 16e siècle (?)" Another entry in Palissy [ref.: PM89000579] lists the [same?] font in this church with some notable differences: "Cuve octogonale sur un socle mouluré ; ornée aux angles de figures et têtes d'animaux de facture grossière [...] H = 82 ; d = 104 [...] 12e siècle". Illustrated in Mémoire [ref.: APMH00016510] without reference to either of the above Palissy entries. Described and illustrated in the web site of the Mairie de Guillon [http://mairie.wanadoo.fr/mairie.guillon/sites/eglise.htm] [accessed 3 May 2005]: tub-shaped monolithic octagonal baptismal font of the 12th century [cf. supra] classed 'monument historique'; the sides are decorated with large heads identified thus in the source [L->R]: 1)a dog's head; 2)a bearded man; 3)an abbot wearing a low mitre, holding a cross in the right hand while the left points to heavens; 4)a woman; 5)another abbot wearing a low mitre; 6)a queen wearing a crown of lilies; 7)a bishop holding a cross; 8)a king crowned with clover leaves. The flat wooden cover is modern.
