There is an entry for Checkendon [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SU6683/checkendon/] [accessed 22 March 2023]; it mentions neither priest nor church in it. A font here is described and illustrated in Keyser (1918): "The font at the south corner of the nave is of Perpendicular date [...] with octagonal basin with raised moulding round the verge and above the stem; octagonal stem nd plinth." Noted in Sherwood & Pevsner (1974): "Font. Octagonal, Perp[endicular]". Church listed in Historic England [Listing NGR: SU6631683041]: "Church. C12 nave, chancel and apse; C15 west tower and south porch [...] C16 font" [no stoup mentioned in the entry]. [cf. Index entry for Checkenden No. 2 for a stoup of about the same date in this church].
