There are ten entries for Norwich [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/TG2308/norwich/] [accessed 13 October 2020], one of which records "22.7 churches. 2.57 church lands" in it; a separate entry records a priest and a church in it. Pevsner & Wilson (1997) note, before describing the font itself: "As a museum, most of the furnishings are not originally from here. -- Font. Octagonal simple, with quatrefoils on the bowl. -- Font cover. Dated 1605, with an openwork steeple." Baptismal font probably of the 15th century, Perpendicular style. The octagonal basin has vertical sides between the protruding crenellated upper and lower rims; the panels of the sides are decorated with a large quatrefoil in a circle; the underbowl has a graded chamfer; the stem of the base is octagonal and decorated on each side with a cinquefoil arch in an Ogee window; the crenellated lower base is also octagonal. Raised on an octagonal pedestal with kneeling stone. Octagonal wooden font cover, modern.
