Parker (1855) notes: "The font is D[ecorated], octagon basin, large and deep, each face relieved with rich foliage". Listed in James (1930) as a good font. Octagonal basin with vertical sides decorated chiefly with foliage motifs of different shapes -heart-shaped and trefoliate- and arrangements, some of them with a human head in it surrounded by leaves ['Green Man' motif]; the underbowl is a graded set of mouldings; the stem is octagonal with vertical sides decorated with thin fluted pattern; the lower base. also octagonal splays out in graded mouldings. Dated to the 14th century. Knott (1999?) notes that "the font was rescued and repaired". There is evidence of repairs to the upper sides of the basin, with some insertion of new material [NB: "The font [...] was severely damaged in Victorian times when part of the church roof collapsed onto it. It was restored and conceals its past well showing no sign of its damage" [source: Green Man East Anglia http://website.lineone.net/~dominicow/Thurston%20S.htm]]. A plain flat wooden cover with a metal handle appears modern. The font is located in the centre of the nave towards the west end.
