The baptismal font in the church of the Augustinian Friary at Adare is octagonal and appears to be of the 16th century or later; the basin is octagonal with vertical sides and decorated with a roll moulding at the top, and torsade columns at the angles; at least one of the sides has a symbol [monogram?]; the chamfer is tall and slightly curved linkning to a short octagonal base decorated with two thin roll mouldings; the lower end splays slightly, raised on a square plinth; quadrangular 'kneeling stone'. Flat wooden cover, probably modern. [cf. Index entry for Adare No. 1 for an earlier font now at St. Nicholas']
