Described in Fryer (1930) as a baptismal font with a basin made of wood and decorated with the seven Sacraments, dated to ca. 1510-1520; the eighth panel is decorated with the Baptism of Christ. The basin is octagonal and made of wood, with a metal basin insert to hold the water; the sides of the basin are decorated as indicated in Fryer [cf. supra]; the stem appears to be made of stone [painted stone?]; the sides of the stem have a variety of motifs, tracery and at least one human head on the panels; one of the panels decorated with tracery is actually make of metal and opens to the interior of the pedestal base; the lower base is octagonal and made of unpainted stone, decorated with graded mouldings. [NB: THERE IS A FONT IDENTICAL TO THIS ONE AT WURZBURG NEUMUSTER KIRCHE WHICH BSI VISITED AND PHOTOGRAPHED 30 SEPTEMBER 2017; SUPPOSED TO BE MODERN -- IS THIS AN ERROR? IS THE WURZBURG-N FONT A COPY? -- TO BE RE-VISITED]
