Noted in the 3rd ed. of Hutchins (1973 c1861-1874): "the font, a beautiful structure of marble, having a square bowl on a central pillar, with smaller pillar at the angles." [NB: though not dated in the source, the description appears to describe a Victorian font, not the old font from the original church]. In Newman & Pevsner (1972): "The font was given an extremely high cover". The font cover, said to be about 6 m. in height, dates probably from the 19th-century rebuilding of this church, which, as Newman & Pevsner (ibid.) note, it was mostly the work of George Gilbert Scott, son of Sir George Gilbert Scott. But the father also participated". [NB: we have no information on the original font of this church]
