In Long (1923): "The font at Folke has an octagonal bowl, which is unusual in classical work. It probably dates from the rebuilding of the church in 1628, and, like the fabric, retains some of the Gothic spirit." Newman & Pevsner (1972) write: "Font. Twisted stem; octagonal bowl, fluted. -- Font cover. Inturned volutes, decorated." Reported as a goblet-shaped baptismal font and a font cover, both from 1628, the date of the church itself [www.churchcrawler.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk -and- www.westgallerychurches.com/Dorset]. The font consists of a basin with an octagonal shape at the upper sides that become rounded at the underbowl and are decorated with stylised ribbed above and foliated pattern below; the stem of the base is a torsade column with octagonal top and base, and the lower base is octagonal. The wooden cover is of the four-S-shaped-ribs-around-a-centre-pivot type, the platform octagonal and decorated with small knows all around, one per side.
