There are three entries for this Barford [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [http://opendomesday.org/place/SU0531/barford-st-martin/] [accessed 9 September 2017], but it mentions neither priest not church in them. Buck (1951) writes of a group of circular fonts with moulded edges dating from the late 12th or early 13th century in the county of Wiltshire, at Barford St. Martin, Bower Chalke, Burcombe, Chilmark, Codford St. Mary [...], Monkton Deverill, Donhead St. Andrew, Teffont Magna. Baptismal font possibly of the 13th century, Early English period [source: Col. Simon-Reed's 'A Short History of Barford St. Martin'. in wwwbarpc.ndo.co.uk/history.htm]: "The font is simple with a plain, oak cover and may be contemporary with the church." This same source notes that the font was moved [back?] to its present position in 1967. There is no mention of the font in Pevsner & Cherry (1975) who, presumably, thought it of a later date.
