Described in Enlart (1902: 763) and Davies (1962: 60): "an octagonal room opening off the east side of the south transept; this now contains the font and is regarded as an example of mediaeval baptismal chapel. But until recently the font was located in the first bay to the north of the nave and, in any case, an epitaph in situ records that it was built by a certain Henri Caillot, who died in 1338 and directed that three Masses a week should be said on the altar of St. John the Baptist; thus the room was erected initially as a chantry and nothing else."
