The Ecclesiologist (April 1865, no. 167: 94) writes on the re-opening of St. Patrick's Cathedral after the extensive renovation funded by the Guinness brewers and the moving of the font to a new location: "The western bay of this (fenced in by a cast iron railing) is converted into a baptistery. The font, which formerly stood on the north aisle of the nave, is now placed on the south side of the western pier; it is a square block of marble, resting on a large central stem, with shafts at two of the angles, the other two abutting against the pier : it seems to be Middle-Pointed" [i.e., Decorated]. Described in Fitzpatrick (1907: chapter II) as an old stone baptismal font in the baptistry. [source: K. Finlay's transcription in http://indigo.ie/~kfinlay/ossory/ossory2.htm]. Mentioned also in Cooke (1908) : "At the south-west corner is the baptistery with a curious font". [source: K. Finlay's transcription in http://indigo.ie/~kfinlay/General/citychurches.html]
