Described and illustrated by H.S. Crawford in the Journal of Royal Society of Antiquaries of Ireland (1908, vol. 38: 76): "carved stone which now [i.e., ca. 1908] lies outside the east end of the church, and is evidently half of the base of a font [...] similar to that in St. Canice's Cathedral. It shows sockets for a large pillar in the centre, and smaller ones at the corners, and is perforated through the middle, I presume for the escape of water."
