The index to the "Letters containing information relative to the antiquities of the County of Waterford, collected during the progress of the Ordnance Survey in 1841" lists under no.136 for the Parish of Kilmolash, Co. Waterford, the following entry: "Holy Water Font at do. [ditto?, i.e., referring to the ruins of the building known as Abbey of Knights Templar at Bewley Townsand]" The letter, which identifies the stoup as the only "ecclesiastical" clue to the nature of the building, is signed as "Examined by Mr. A.
