The index to the "Letters containing information relative to the antiquities of the County of Waterford, collected during the progress of the Ordnance Survey in 1841" lists under no. 54 for the Parish of Ballylaneen, Co. Waterford, the following entry: "Holy Water Font in the graveyard". The letter itself, signed by a J. O'Donovan is dated "June 10th 1841 / At Kilmacthomas / For Bhrú Machan" and reads: "The old Parish Church of Ballylaneen [...] the graveyard is enclosed and contains several head stones but no monument except a holy water font" [source:www.waterfordcountylibrary.ie/library/categories/onlineresources/article80/ordnancesurveyletters.doc]
