Described in Roe (1968: 113) as a medieval baptismal font, "well-cut and remarkably unweathered. Octagonal in form with deeply chamfered underpanels, the vessel has a circular basin [i.e., inner well] with a central drain, now filled in. The font stands on a low polygonal pedestal with a roll moulding at the upper edge"; the lower base, also octagonal is described as probably modern. Roe (ibid.) informs that Cogan [cf. Authors Notes below] had reported it "as being in the ruined church of Roddenstown or Balrodden in the parish of Kilcloon" in his time.
