Font Notes:
Tynell (1913-1921: 78) informs that the 1667 inventory listed an old copper font in this church, whereas the 1692 entered no font found ["finnes ingen funt"]. Yet the 1830 church inventory had an entry for a baptismal font in this church -though not the missing medieval font- a sandstone vessel 33.5 cm high by 48 cm wide [cf. infra]. No entry found for this font in the SHM Medeltidens bildvärld. The entry for this church in Svenska kyrkan [www.svenskakyrkan.se/filer/Östra Karaby.pdf] [accessed 1 January 2021] notes that the medieval sandstone 'basin' may have not been originally part of a font at all; the brick base was added in 1822; it is used with a metal baptismal dish [="Dopfunten i sandsten är medeltida men tros ursprungligen ha fungerat som vigvattens-kärl. Den fyrsidiga foten som murades i tegel 1822, i samband med att funten tillkom kyrkan alternativt började brukas som dopfunt, är gråmålad och försedd med en fals nertill. Även cuppan är fyrsidig och försedd med en mindre urholkning utan avtapp-ningshål. Till dopfunten används en dopskål av nysilver."]
