Described in López de Silanes Valgañón (2000: 204): plain hemispherical mounted baptismal font. In Sáenz Rodríguez (2004). Described in the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008) as a crude baptismal font product of a local stone-mason, perhaps the one who built the chapel itself, in the late 12th or early 13th century. Described and illustrated in the village web site [www.aguilarderioalhama.tk]: A monolithic cup-shaped baptismal font made of stone and belonging to the Romanesque period of the church, the late 12th century; the basin is hemispherical and raised on a short round foot; the whole stands on a broad two-step plinth. The existence of such a font in this church is used as argument for identifying this country chapel [="ermita"] as the original parish church of Aguilar del Rio Alhama. This same source informs that the font was made evident during the recent (1998-2001) restoration.
