Font Notes:
Described in López de Silanes Valgañón (2000) as a Romanesque baptismal font of the 12th century, the hemispheric basin decorated with a blind arcade of round arches. Noted and illustrated in Sáenz Rodríguez (2004) as a baptismal font of the Romanesque period from the Sierra de Cameros workshop. Described and illustrated in the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008) as a genuine 12th-century product of the Sierra de Cameros workshop; the basin is between hemispheric and tub-based, the sides decorated with an arcade of nineteen round arches and a potent cross inscribed in a circle; lower down it has a band of circles all around; the broad base has a prominent moulding at the top, and, on the sides lower down, a human figure with raised arms and seven ball motifs, recalling thus the decoration on the base of the font at Almarza de Cameros, probably of the same workshop. The upper rim of the basin has two metal staples from an old cover locking mechanism.
