Described and illustrated in López de Silanes Valgañón (2000) as a Romanesque baptismal font of the second half of the 12th century, and similar to the one at nearby Canales de la Sierra [cf. Index entry for Canales de la Sierra No. 1]: a monolithic vat-shaped basin decorated with a blind arcade of round arches above which runs a vine and palmette motif; the lower volume is a plain cylindrical block that appears modern. This source (ibid.) suggests that the two fonts, may have originated in a Burgos workshop that produced the fonts at Villahizan, Cascajares de la Sierra, Cojobar and Cayuela [cf. Index entries]. In Sáenz Rodríguez (2004), who notes similar relations with some of the fonts above, and dates it to the early or mid-12th century. In the Enciclopedia del románico en La Rioja (2008) with date in the early or mid 12th century, the product of the Sierra de la Demanda area [which may account for the apparent Burgos influence].
