The Havelberger Dom site [https://havelberg-dom.de/dom-st-marien-havelberg-geschichte-bilder-besucher-info/] [accessed 26 January 2024] reports a Renaissance baptismal font of 1588 ["Renaissance-Taufstein stammt von 1588"]. The entry for this church in the Routen der Romanik in Berlin und Brandenburg [https://rrbb.info/westliche-route/dom-st-marien-havelberg/] [accessed 26 January 2024] mentions a Renaissance font of 1587 installed in it in 1587/1588 ["Taufstein von 1587 [...] 1587/88 noch der Renaissance-Taufstein aufgestellt"]. The entry for this church in the Straße der Romanik [https://geschichtstouren.de/strasse-der-romanik/nordroute/havelberger-dom/?L=978] [accessed 26 January 2024] states the font was installed here in 1587, and is the only furnishing that remains from that period ["Der Taufstein wurde 1587 im Dom aufgestellt. Er ist das einzige aus dieser Zeit erhalten gebliebene Ausstattungsstück"]. Noted and illustrated in Raymond Faure [http://www.raymond-faure.com/Strasse_der_Romanik/Havelberg_Dom_St_Marien_Chor.html] [accessed 26 January 2024]: "Renaissance baptismal font made of white sandstone (1588)". Noted and illustrated in the EKMD [https://www.ekmd.de/aktuell/projekte-und-aktionen/wasser-des-lebens-ekm-sommerserie-2023/#gallery-76] [accessed 26 January 2024] as a baptismal font made of sandstone in 1587. Baptismal font of 1587 [cf. supra] noted in the German Wikipedia entry for this cathedral [https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/St._Marien (Havelberg)] [accessed 26 January 2024] ["der Taufstein 1587 gefertigt"]; the basin is cylindrical with a hemispherical underbowl; the sides of the basin are decorated with an arcade of arches leaning on columns with capitals and bases, alternating with several scenes (Adoration of the Shepherds, Baptism of Christ in the Jordan and Resurrection); also on the sides are several atlante-like figures; flat moulding at the upper rim; varied high-relief ornamentation on the underbowl; the inner basin has a metal lining ; the pedestal base is round with three cherubs standing atlante-like. No cover present. [NB: there appears to be a faint inscription on the upper surface of the basin rim. [NB: a medieval font, believed to be originally from the Havelberger Dom, but later moved to Räbel, and later still to Giesenslage, is listed in BSI under Giesenslage]. [NB: in the Dom museum is a baptismal font and cover of which we have no information [cf. ImagesArea]].
