Described in Kruft (1972: 54, 238 and scheda no. 11), in Nobile ([s.d.]) and in Gullo (2002-2003): baptismal font of the late Gothic period dated to 1466; capital-like basin square at the top and tapering to a thinner round shape at the underbbowl; the upper sides are ornamented with putto heads at the angles; the sides are decorated with two shields and one scene; the left side has a shield charged with a coat of arms identified as those of the Cabrera family [an Aragonese family known especially after Bernardo I, an associate of the dukes of Sicily, and Bernardo II, the donor of the font]; the front side has a scene of a mounted St George (?) fighting the dragon, with a young maid that appears on the upper right-hand side; on the right side is another shield with a coat of arms identified as those of the De Prades. The centre ring is a thick rope moulding; the slender base is octagonal -aquare with chamfered angles- and has a garland ring around its middle. Kruft (ibid.) is responsible for the attribution of this work to Domenico Gagini, while others accept a more general attribution to his workshop or the "scuola gaginesca". It is also Kruft (ibid.) who identifies the donor as Bernardo II Cabrera. [We are grateul to Montserrat Estela, of Barcelona, Spain, for bringing this font to our attention]
