There is an entry for Wootton Courtenay [variant spelling] in the Domesday survey [https://opendomesday.org/place/SS9343/wootton-courtenay/] [accessed 18 February 2020] but it mentions neither cleric nor church in it. A stoup here is described and illustrated in Cox & Harvey (1907) as "a good 15th-cent. instance" of a type of stoup consisting of a block of masonry at the angle of the porch with a basin hollowed out at the top. C&H's illustration shows a quadrangular block decorated with a trim at one of the front corners and a shield in a quatrefoil window on the front; the shield appears blank.
