Romanesque holy-water stoup probably of the 12th or 13th century [NB: the Spanish press (Agencia Efe, Europa Press...) reported on September 5, 2003 an attempted theft of this object two days earlier: a man had been reported removing the stoup from its wall-mounted location, loading it into his vehicle and taking off; the local priest reported the theft to the authorities; shortly after a local neighbour from nearby Aranda de Duero (M.A.R.J., 39 years of age) was stopped at a road-block set up by the Guardia Civil near El Burgo de Osma; the stoup was discovered in his Renault 5 and the man was apprehended -- We are grateful to Javier Torrens, of Pamplona, Spain, for bringing this stoup and the attempted robbery to our attention].
