Described and illustrated in Fontaine (1973-1977, t. 1: 140 and pl. 30): holy-water stoup located at the entrance of the former mosque; it consists of a plain shallow square (prismatic shape) basin raised on a former altar base of the Visigothic period and dated to the 7th century; this object is a quadrangular pedestal with upper and lower graded mouldings,; the sides are ornamented with a variety of well-rendered ["savamment modelés"] floral and geometric motifs and patterns. Noted in Arbeiter (2003) as one of the "piezas grandes y por ello estacionarias", together with the one from Mérida [M. Arch. Museum listed in this Index as Merida No. 1], specimens of early baptismal fonts that replace the baptismal immersion piscinae of the Palaeochristian Peninsular churches.
