Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in García de Castro (1995): cauldron-shaped unmounted baptismal font made of limestone; it is totally plain with the chisel marks evident; the basin is now raised on a circular plinth re-used from elsewhere; the plinth itself, decorated with a scotia and ball motif is dated to the 12th century, which GdeC (ibid.) takes as an indication that the basin itself is of an earlier period. Múñiz López & García Alvarez-Busto (2007) suggest it belongs to a group of fonts established by García de Castro (1995) that includes cognate fonts at San Miguel de Conforcos (Aller), San Miguel de Barcena (Tineo) and San Juan de Sangoñéu (Tineo) and the one at Castrillón.
