Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- , vol. V: 432): Romanesque baptismal font of the late 12th century; this font is originally from the church of Sant Feliu i Sant Pere, in Fontcoberta, but it is now in the church of Santa Maria dels Turers in nearby Banyoles/Bañolas; only the basin is original, the stone base and the metal dome cover being modern; also modern are the metal applications on its sides [crosses, shells, Greek letters, etc.]. The original basin is roughly hemispherical in shape and has a broad flat moulding at the upper side; the underbowl is ornamented with a blind arcade of round arches. The metal cover replaced by J. Savall in 1942. [cf. Index entry for Banyoles No. 2 for a later font also in this church] [We are grateful to Montserrat Estela, of Barccelona, Spain, for her information on and the image of this font]
