Church Notes: The church of Our Saviour [Iglesia del Salvador] now at Formigal was originally in Basarán, towards Biescas, but was 'transplanted' in the 1960s to the present site at Formigal. The font itself is originally from the abandoned church at Ruesta. Ruesta had a church in 1125 but the present church, now in ruins is chiefly 16thC

Font Notes:
Monolithic baptismal font of the 12th century. It is originally from the abandoned church at Ruesta. The font is a good early specimen of quadrangular vessel, slightly trapezoidal with the upper area a little wider than the bottom; the front side is ornamented with a chrismon inside a circle the upper part of which has been cut off by the indentation made for the lock [the lock is now missing]; the left side bears a similar chrismon in the centre of the panel, as well as a Latin cross inscised in the upper right corner; the right side and the back appear plain. Described In Art Medieval [https://www.artmedieval.net/castella/Espanya/Arago/san salvador basaran.htm] [accessed 31 May 2025]: "En el interior del templo se conserva una pila bautismal rectangular y gran tamaño. En las caras frontal e izquierdo vemos esculpido un crismón. En la cara derecha hay una cruz. También vemos una cruz, aunque muy simple, en la cara frontal. Procede del monasterio de San Juan de Maltray, en Ruesta."
