Font Notes:
Described and illustrated in Catalunya romànica (1984- ): monolithic rectangular [square?] baptismal font; only two sides are visible since the font is built into a corner now; the left side has a Crucifixion scene on the right hand side: Christ on the cross; Mary and John under the arms of the cross, their hands together in prayer; the sun (left) and the Moon (right) above the arms of the cross; on the same side of the font, on the upper basin side, two ball motifs; between them is the indentation provided for the lock; the right side has two other ball motifs located as the ones on the other side; the lower part of the basin is chamfered, but it is very irregularly done and it is not clear whether or not that was the original shape. Two iron spikes/staples are visible on the inner side of the basin well, opposite the side with the Crucifixion and the lock indentation; these may be the hinges for the old cover. This same source states that the crudeness of the carving and the theme itself, pasting up to the 14th century, makes dating of the font difficult. The general appearance of the object and its similarities with such others in the Pyrenean area would probably suggest though a late 12th or early 13th century date. Described and illustrated in Noguera Massa (2007) with date suggested in the 12th century.
