Described in http://www.toscanamare.com/itinerari/percorsi/carrara.html as a baptismal font probably the work of the Carrara master Donato Benti. The font itself consists of a roughly hemispherical basin decorated with motifs and a row of cherub headsl the spectacular font cover, also by Benti, has two mythological scenes and is topped with a sculpture of John the Baptist as finial.
