The entry for this church in the Italian Wikipedia [https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieve_di_Santo_Stefano_(Camaiore)] [accessed 30 May 2025] mentions a baptismal font carved out of a 2nd-3rd century sarcophagus in it: "L'interno custodisce un fonte battesimale, ricavato da un sarcofago del II-III secolo". Ilustrated in an 8 February 2014 digital photograph by Mongolo 1984 [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Fonte_battesimale,_ricavato_da_un_sarcofago_del_II-III_secolo,_Pieve_di_Camaiore.JPG] [accessed 30 May 2025]. The sarcophagus fragment consists of a full front side of the object built into an interior wall of the church; the decoration of the side includes a large central medallion containing a human bust (the head lacking any facial detail), held by two winged figures; two tragic theatre maks in the corners below; on each side of the central motif is a pair of naked putti holding fruits, floral and foliage motifs. [cf. BSI entry for Camaiore No. 2 for the font in the Collegiata di Santa Maria Assunta].
