Baptismal font of the 15th century consisting of an octagoanl absin raised on an octagonal pedestal base, and tall octagonal 'cover', a spectacular constructiona also in marble on it; the sides of the basin are decorated wirth a number of motifs and symbols, most prminent of which are the charhed shields on the pedestal base; the 'cover' is octagonal, with a lower section that has opening lids that provide access to the water inside the bain well; above it is a basin-like section with fluted underbowl sides, on which is a vertival section similar to the rim-buffet covers often found on fonts of the period (in wood, usually); each side has a niche with a standing figure (a saint, a bishop, etc.) except one which has an opening window with two panels on it; the two shorter sections, also octagonal, above are decorated with a number of motifs and patterns, on which is a domed top with a figural finial.
