Font Notes:
The entry for this church in [https://rennes-le-chateau.org/wp-content/uploads/2018/05/les-mysteres-de-leglise.pdf] accessed 20 September 2023] states that the present font "superbes fonds [sic] baptismaux" was made by the "Société Giscard de Toulouse, comme les reste du statuaire de l’église"; there is a cover and also a large sculpture of the Baptism of Christ as backdrop. They are both late-19th century. A holy-water stoup consisting of a molusc-shaped basin [not known whether shell or stone] held up by a garishly painted devil. The object seems to fit in the general atmosphere of this church, in which many associations with mysteries are made. [NB: the stoup falls outside the chronological scope of this Index but it is included here for its similarity with the one at Dinan No. 2, another stoup in which a devil holds up the basin]. The stoup is noted and illustrated in Stephanie Buttegeg [http://rennes-le-chateau-bs.com/AEgliselebenitieretasmodee.htm] [accessed 20 September 2023]. [NB: we have no information on the font of the medieval churc h here]
