Illustrated in the Gran Enciclopedia Navarra (1990- , v. 10: 105); described and illustrated in Domeño (1992: 175 and pl. 1) as a baptismal font from the Romanesque period. This is a font that could very well be of a composite nature, now [March 2003] being used as a garden ornament outside the church at Salinas de Galar [aka "Salinas de Pamplona"]; the basin is bucket-shaped but rather shallow, although it is difficult to ascertain just how much of the upper level has been lost; the sides are ornamented with a well-rendered arcade of round arches in low-relief; the base appears to be made of a different stone and shape: cylindrical at the top and bulb-like in the middle and bottom, resembling the "artichoke" bottom of the font at Sos del Rey Católico in nearby Aragón, for instance [cf. illustrated Index entry]; this base appears to be made of soft sandstone and is very worn. The basin is not only worn, one side more so than the other, but has suffered quite a lot of damage at the upper rim. [cf. Index entry for Salinas de Galar No. 2 for the font inside the church]
