Noteworthy baptismal font made of marble and dated 1482; from the workshop of the Zabreri di Pagliero [source: www.ghironda.com/saluzzo]. Though somewhat similar to many of the 'Credo' fonts of this workshop, it does not appear to have the characteristic Credo text on its basin sides; instead there is some inscription [only partial text is visible in the source], including the IHS anagram, as well as the pair of keys of St. Peter, one of the patron saints of this church; on the underbowl sides only the characteristic leaves at the angles; both the keys and the leaves decorate the lower base as well; the stem of the base appears to have been re-mounted the wrong way around, as the shields that alternate with roses on the centre ring show; mouldings up and down. The font has been fitted with a metal girdle, a later addition, probably to provide extra support for the basin. Noted in the Italian Wikipedia entry for this church [https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sampeyre] [accessed 24 May 2025]:
"Il fonte battesimale in marmo (risalente al 1482) è stato realizzato della bottega degli Zabreri di Pagliero di San Damiano Macra."
