Font Notes:
Described as an octagonal unmounted baptismal font of the 8th century discovered buried underground in the proto-Romanesque church in this site [source: www.terradilunigiana.it] The entry for this church in the Italian Wikipedia [https://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pieve_dei_Santi_Cornelio_e_Cipriano] [accessed 23 May 2025] describes the font as being decorated with a cross: "La semplice vasca del fonte battesimale è decorata da una croce." Illustrated in a 17 August 2008 digital photograph by Davide Papalini [https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Codiponte-pieve_santi_Cornelio_e_Cipriano-fonte_battesimale.jpg] [accessed 23 May 2025]; the chalice-shaped font consists of a roughly hemispherical basin raised on a round-to-square base; it has a Greek cross inscribed in a circle on the side of the basin, in right below the upper rim; the lower base is very eroded but appears to have at least one quadruped and several other motifs on it. No cover present but there is metal staple present from an old cover anchoring.
