Conical [roughly] mounted baptismal font of the 12th century; the polished and otherwise plain exterior has five large figures in four groups: 1)a tonsured cleric faces forward holding a procession cross in his right hand and a thurible/censer in his left; 2)a tonsured cleric holds a large candle in his left hand; 3)a tonsured cleric holds a large candle in both his hands; 4) two clerics, the one on the left dressed wearing a chasuble (?), hold up a book. The figures protrude from the rest of the surface of the basin in what is obviously a representation of the consecration of the font/waters [NB: Three fonts from the Burgos province of Spain are claimed to represent this scene: Cillamayor, Renedo de Valdavia and Valdeande, the last two with illustrated entries in this Index]. The base is a short roughly cylindrical pedestal. A replica copy of this font was recently installed and can be seen at the MUSEO DIOCESANO DI PARMA (in Piazza Duomo, Parma); the Italian text that follows is from the Museo's web site [www.cattedralediparma.it/museo_collezione_det.php?ID=59]] [accessed 13 October 2014]: "Nella prima sala del Museo Diocesano è di recente arrivato il calco del fonte battesimale della chiesa parrocchiale di Vicofertile.
