Beautiful tub-shaped, almost cylindrical, font; the upper rim of the basin has a broad roll moulding decorated with an acanthus (?) vine; the sides of the basin are decorated with a winged figure holding an open book; to the left is a winged ox holding an open book; to the right is a lion [no wings visible] holding an open book; farther to the right is a coiled serpent facing left; a 6-petal rosette is right above the serpent's mouth; one other such floral motif is located at the hind leg of the winged ox; to the left of this are a pair of facing beasts, perhaps lions, the one on the left winged; on the lower left side of the basin is a human head with an acanthus vine stemming from the mouth; the vine appears to continue rightwards beneath the angel [cf. supra] in a minimal form, and sprouts again on the right side of the angel. One would assume these figures are representations of three Evangelists [NB: we have not been able to located John's eagle in the programme yet -- are we missing part of it?]. Garbasi [www.vallideltermina.it/Pag_Pub_Mp_Nr_35_2.html] [accessed 29 November 2014] points to similarities and differenzes with the font at the Pieve di San Pietro in San Polo d'Enza.
