Described in Art romà... (1999: 243) as a former Byzantine Ionic capital mounted on a large impost that was recycled as baptismal font and used at the church of Santa Maria; the impost is a quadrangular piece of prismatic shape; the basin/capital has four drain holes, only one of which remains open; like some other Barcelona pieces originating in Constatinople it was probably taken over during the 4th Crusade, via the south of Italy or Sicily.
